IN MY HAUNTED ERA

In My Haunted Era is a paranormal comedy podcast hosted by Jen Fredrick and Em Davenport.

Paranormal? Yes. Normal? Not Even Close.

MEET YOUR (G)HOSTS

Jen Fredrick

If you could haunt one location for eternity, where would it be?

Probably your mom's house.

First paranormal encounter?

I’m not sure—I think the ghosts have unanimously decided I’m not worth haunting.

Hi, I’m Jen—ICU nurse by night, paranormal enthusiast by… also night (it’s kind of my whole thing).  I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2013 from Texas Woman's University and have been an ICU nurse for 11 years, which means I’ve seen some things… and I’m not just talking about the hospital coffee.

My fascination with the paranormal—and the big question of what happens after we kick the proverbial bucket—comes from firsthand experiences with life, death, and the weird stuff in between. Trust me, when you’ve been around as many “unexplainable moments” as I have, you start questioning a lot more than just your life choices.

In my free time (which is mostly theoretical), I love reading, diving into whatever my current hyperfixation is, and collecting haunted objects that stubbornly refuse to acknowledge my existence. Seriously, not even a polite ghostly whisper. Rude. I’m also a huge Swiftie, because nothing pairs better with existential dread than screaming All Too Well (10 Minute Version) at full volume.

When I’m not wrangling tiny humans, dodging existential dread, or having one-sided conversations with cursed antiques, I’m here to ask the big questions, share the spooky stories, and make you laugh about things that probably shouldn’t be funny—but here we are.

Hey there! I’m Em—a lifelong theatre kid who somehow ended up in local government. I have a BA in Theatre Arts from A&M University - Corpus Christi, and now I'm knee-deep in Human Resources. Why? Because I love people... living or not.

While I may not be performing on stage every day, I still manage to squeeze in a little dress-up now and then. When I’m not indulging in smutty books or binge-watching scary movies, you’ll find me out in the great outdoors, soaking up some nature—because what’s better than a good horror flick? A good hike, of course.

Oh, and I can’t forget Winter, my adorable Pomeranian. She’s small, fluffy, and definitely convinced she’s the boss of this whole spooky operation.

I did marry my high school sweetheart, and funny enough, he’s not exactly a fan of scary stories or horror movies. So, while I’m diving into all things spooky, he’s probably Googling ‘How to survive a haunted house 101.’ But hey, opposites attract, right?

Honestly, I have my family to thank for my love of horror. Particularly my mom, who always holds my hand during our scary movie nights. My family is also my inspiration for some of the creepiest stories I’ve got. We’ve all had our fair share of strange encounters. One in particular involves me having a conversation with a spirit in my sleep while my dad watched in disbelief, probably wondering if he should call an exorcist. I’ll make sure to tell you all about that one. Stick around!

If you could haunt one location for eternity, where would it be?

Disneyland. No contest.

First paranormal encounter?

I don't know if this counts, but my earliest memory of something spooky happening to me was when I was 6 years old and I choked on a baby carrot. I was in the kitchen of my childhood home and my older sister performed the Heimlich Maneuver on me. But my memory of it is a bit strange because while I was turning blue in the face, I was watching myself from above in the entryway into our kitchen. I shit you not! To this day I can see my sister around by torso while my mom was panicking behind the island with the phone. It was like an out-of-body experience, I guess? If I was any kind of artist, I'd draw the memory for you and post it to our socials, but I can't draw for shit.
